It's a nice gesture on the crow's part to share the Bomb burrito with his bird brethren, but ol' Ty Tanium will be wearing a hat for the next several days: I made the original post on Feb. 5. Today is Feb. 13 ... that burrito had been there for a while when I took the first photo. I'm afraid birds with food poisoning may drop bombs of their own.

The empty bottle of Pinnacle Whipped Vodka left on top of this mailbox is not the mystery here. They question that hangs as heavy in the air as the moisture from yesterday's long-awaited snowfall is: What the hell is up with whipped-cream vodka?

Sweets are delightful and vodka is sublime but cotton-candy booze sounds like a dreadful idea. So does marshmallow, coconut, butterscotch, and cookie dough. Especially cookie dough.

The kids are going to be confused if they get home from school

and see this sitting on the counter.

That doesn't mean trying vodkas that would be right at home in a Baskin-Robbins is completely out of the question--Pinnacle makes 34 flavors. So maybe next time, the person who left the empty bottle will leave a full one ... inside of the mailbox.

Friday night's Porch 2 was the second in a series of conceptual dinner-and-a-movie events hosted by Bricolage and held on the MING Studios secret back patio.

The night's movie was the brilliant Blade Runner and the mouthwatering meal was created by Brook Slee. Dinner included Deckard's Pie--a vegetarian take on shepherd's pie with "savory synthetic lamb and grain stew with vegetables" as well as a stunning salad and side and cider with a kick. Dessert was Electric Wool, a sparkling shot of cotton candy. (If you didn't already know, Blade Runner is based on Philip K. Dick's 1968 novel, Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?).

It was brisk once the sun went down but a crackling fire in the fire pit and a bunch of blankets to share kept the chill at bay ... which hopefully means the onset of colder weather won't prevent Porch 3 from happening soon.

Can you tell me what this is that I found stuck to the the pavement at 9th and Idaho?

This week's recycling award goes to the new Boise Bike sign that replaced the paintbrush stalwart Boise Blue. If you give it a close look, you'll see the B and E made the cut from the former "Blue". The "I" is the former "L", with some black (duct tape?) on it and the K looks like an artist commission. Good work!

Alls I wanted was some ice cream. I went to Albertson's a few nights ago and 1/2 the parking lot was commandeered by the Boise police. There had been a drug bust gone wrong above the hair salon across the street, which turned into a hostage situation (I know this because one guy in the parking lot audience had a police scanner app on his iPhone). These fuzzy (no cop pun there intended) photos show the police sniper laying on the ground. Thanks Boise police for letting us be such a part of the action!

Saturday the 11th is the 2011 Ironman competition in Boise. This is a super-inspiring event. It starts at noon at Lucky Peak with swimming. If you want to see that, go early because the road to Lucky Peak will be closed for the bike race. The way less involved route is to watch from downtown as the bikers make the transition to running. The running winds through downtown near the library and BoDo and you'll get lots of chances to cheer on the athletes.

CULT CAMP presents TROLL 2 - The Best Worst Movie Ever Made

Thursday, September 23rd 7pm at Owyhee Plaza Lounge (21+)

$5+ donation benefits Common Ground, a non-profit organization helping refugees and those in need.

CULT CAMP is a community movie night celebrating the best and worst of Cult, B, Xploitation, Noir, off the wall or obscure, and other alternative film genres.

CULT CAMP takes place once every other month (or so), the feature film for each CULT CAMP is determined by popular vote determined via an online survey. Our first CULT CAMP featured The Warriors - we had a load of fun!

Not only do we watch cult films, but we promote and raise donations for a local non-profit organization at each event. A donation of AT LEAST $5 is suggested at every CULT CAMP, all of the proceeds benefit the highlighted cause.

We are excited to partner with Owyhee Plaza Hotel in downtown Boise. They donate The Gamekeeper Lounge for our events, they’ve a full bar with yummy appetizers too! Sorry, this is a 21+ venue.

ALERT! Stolen Farm Delivery Bike/Trailer

Boise, this bike and delivery trailer were stolen Wednesday night. A cooler full of kale, which was on the trailer, was also stolen.

The bike and trailer are used to deliver produce from Earthy Delights human powered farm - this is an integral part of their business! The trailer was hand-made by the owner's father, it is one of a kind, and has sentimental value. The bike is a red Bianchi roadie.

Boise Mural Art Project opens wall space in a downtown Boise parking garage for more than 40 artists and creatives to shed some color and share their aesthetic in an otherwise dark corner of gray space.

The garage is located on Bannock Street between Capitol and 8th and can be viewed (free) by anyone. One note: cars still park in the stalls where some of the art is displayed, so some of the murals can’t be seen in their entirety.
